Upright Meaning: Intuition, sacred knowledge, divine feminine, and the subconscious mind.

Reversed Meaning: Secrets, disconnected from intuition or repressed intuition, silence, withheld information or withdrawal.

The second tarot card in a deck is The High Priestess. In numerology, the number 2 signifies intuition and emotional balance - much like what this card represents.

Depicted on the card is the High Priestess with a thin veil, representing the separate conscious and subconscious realms, the seen and the unseen. The pomegranates behind her represent the divine feminine, fertility, and abundance. On either side of her stand two pillars marking the entrance to her sacred, mystical temple. One pillar is in black with the letter B (Boaz, meaning 'in his strength') and another in white with the letter J (Jachin, meaning 'he will establish). These colours symbolise duality, the masculine and the feminine energy, darkness and light, meaning that knowledge and acceptance of duality are required to enter this sacred space. Her blue robe, cross and crown symbolise her divine knowledge and status as a divine ruler. The scroll is partly covered, representing that this sacred knowledge is both explicit and implicit, only being revealed when the student is ready to look beyond the material realm. The crescent moon at her feet symbolises her connection with the the natural cycles of the moon, the divine feminine, her intuition, and her subconscious mind.

Upright Meaning

In a more general sense, the High Priestess represents spiritual enlightenment, divine knowledge, and wisdom. You may have the opportunity to access the knowledge deep within your soul. Now is the time to be silent and still so that you can tune into your intuition and spiritual knowledge. Remember, the answers you're seeing coming from within. Connect with your intuition and higher self through spiritual practices such as meditation.

Love

The High Priestess in a love reading represents deep, honest, open relationships. It can mean you and your partner have a strong bond or a passionate one. Trust is the foundation in any relationship.

Reversed, this could mean you have trust issues or communication difficulties.

Career

If the High Priestess card comes up in a career-related reading, it could signify a period of focused learning, deepening your intuition or trusting that gut feeling when making important career or business decisions. Explore your creative potential. It could indicate a need for further education or perhaps taking a new direction in your career.

Friendship

This card indicates positive energy between you and your friends and family. This is the energy of spiritual affection and connection. Listen carefully to what your loved ones have to say.

Finances

This card suggests you might need to trust your intuition when making well-informed decisions. It urges you to be cautious when dealing with money matters, suggesting you might not have all the information readily available to you yet and should consider all aspects before making any financial commitments.

Twin Flame

Twin Flames are two people who share a spiritual connection. Being two people, one soul, they support you in every way and teach you many important lessons, pushing you to grow immensely.

In an upright position, the High Priestess signifies a deep, intuitive connection with your twin flame. It represents the powerful, spiritual bond you both have and that you need to trust your intuition and inner guidance when navigating this intense twin flame connection. In some interpretations, the High Priestess might signify a period of separation within the twin flame journey. Introspection and self-reflection are necessary before reuniting, so take the time to listen to what the universe and your higher self are telling you.

Reversed, it could signify a blockage in the connection, indicating a lack of intuition, repressed emotions, or a difficulty accessing your deeper connection because of fear, confusion, or being unwilling to contract your inner self and do the work.

Reversed Meaning

When the High Priestess is reversed, it can mean you find it difficult to listen to your intuition. Meditate, self-reflect, or try a new approach to something. If something has been telling you to follow your gut, don't ignore it. There might be some confusion surrounding something in your life, or you may feel like you've been surpressing your authentic self.
